CHARGING TOO LITTLE

Those dirty, dirty bastards. How dare they! How dare Amazon save their customers money! They must be stopped. Immediately. If they do not obey, fine them until it hurts.

Those poor, poor booksellers in France. They simply could not handle the competition. (See here.) So being the good collectivist weaklings they are, they took Amazon to court. Now, Amazon must discontinue free shipping on orders and fork over nearly $150,000 to those benighted “business” owners to compensate them for the horrible, horrible “harm” they suffered. After all, it is illegal in France to sell one’s own property at a loss or to offer any discount on books larger than 5%.

That will show those pesky customers! They’ll be so much better off when it costs them more to purchase their books.

Good fascists that they are, these French folks offer a sterling example to our own homegrown fascists. After all, many of the good “business” proprietors in our country already receive subsidies so they can screw help American citizens pay more for their purchases. These business owners of “pull” appeal to our government to keep foreign competitors out of their “protected” markets. These pseudo-capitalists keep prices high and supplies low by forcing some domestic owners to let their products rot on the ground rather than sell or even give them away. Of course, these do-gooders have also made it illegal to “gouge” consumers during times of shortages to encourage more goods to stream towards areas devastated by disaster.

Contradiction? What contradiction?

The law of supply and demand? What law?

Fair trade? What does it matter if “fair” means “unfair”?

Property rights and freedom? What the hell are those?

Sick bastards? Well... We know who they are.
