NO GREEN

What I believe:

Each of us has the right to use — or misuse — our property in any fashion we see fit, as long as our actions do not damage the life or property of another person.
Each of us should seek to do that which does the most to enhance our lives as rational human beings.

Corollaries of these basic principles:

• No one has the right to pollute another person’s property.
• “Waste” is not automatically the same as pollution.
• Purposefully diminishing one’s quality of life is not a worthwhile goal.
• No one needs to defend his decision to use his legitimately earned wealth to live more comfortably.
• In any dispute — whether “environmental” or otherwise — an appeal to individual rights (of which property rights is merely a subset) is the only legitimate course to follow.
• The “environment” — or “nature” or “Gaia” or “the earth” or “the planet” — does not care...about anything.
• Climate is not static. Ever. It changes. Always. “Now” is not the standard for what is to be considered the “best” climate.
• Everything — and I mean everything — has pluses and minuses, costs and rewards. Focusing solely on the negatives while ignoring the positives in any situation is intellectually bankrupt and, ultimately, immoral.
• Human beings are the highest form of life on earth and are not to be sacrificed to lesser values.
• “Nature” includes human beings. There is nothing “unnatural” about humans or what they do.
• “Humanity” does not literally exist; only individual human beings exist.
• Saving money, having cheaper goods and/or services, and otherwise having a better life are the only valid justifications for adopting some suggestions of the “green” movement.
• The vast majority of activist “environmentalists” are “watermelons,” hiding behind the “environment” to impose their collectivistic, fascistic desires to control everyone and everything around them.
• The environmental movement is, at its core, anti-reason, anti-individualist, anti-capitalist, anti-freedom, anti-property, anti-human.
• I am sick of hearing holier-than-thou reporters and teachers and students and neighbors and relatives and politicians haranguing me and seeking to violate my rights and pretending that their sanctimonious “green” posturing is anything other than wrong, stupid, and misguided.
• Leave me the frak alone.

What I do not believe:

• Humans are “destroying” the world.
• “Global warming” is a threat to the planet or to mankind.
• Whatever warming exists is primarily due to what humans have or are doing.
• People should live diminished lives by using less energy, living in smaller spaces, driving smaller, less safe automobiles, eating less meat and other energy-intensive food, being hotter in summer and colder in winter, using fewer, dimmer lights, flying less, using more tax-subsidized “public” transportation, and constantly worrying about the size of their “carbon footprint.”
• The ozone hole is a threat to the world and is due to human activity.
• People should not be allowed to use Freon.
• Less technologically advanced societies should curtail advances in such areas as refrigeration, heating and cooling of their homes, overall energy usage, and any other area that mirrors the lifestyles of the West.
• The use of pesticides is deadly to humanity and results in unsafe food.
• “Organic” food is superior in quality and safer than “nonorganic” food.
• DDT cannot be safely used.
• Dioxin, food preservatives, nuclear power, irradiation, oil, natural gas, coal, and a plethora of other substances and activities are inherently dangerous at any level and must be prohibited or severely limited.
• Recycling is good for the environment and economically viable; therefore it must be coercively imposed on people.
• Ethanol, wind power, and electric or hydrogen cars are the answers to our environmental concerns.
• The “precautionary principle” is a valid guide for action; better safe than sorry, regardless of the actual threat presented by any potential problem.
• To disagree with the environmental movement and its goals is to reveal one’s ignorance and evil nature; the time for dissent is long past.
• Environmental issues are moral questions, not scientific ones.
• Environmental “deniers” are as depraved as Holocaust “deniers.”
• Scientific inquiry is best preserved when it is funded by tax dollars rather than private, selfish concerns.
• Government is the proper instrument for dealing with environmental concerns; it must control business and individuals in all aspects of their existences that touch upon the environment.

I could go on... But you get the idea.

Ultimately, given the overall statism, collectivism, and immorality of the “Green” movement and its rejection of objectivity, reason, and freedom, I am hereby declaring that I am now and henceforth will be (unless and until sanity returns to this field) firmly and unequivocally ANTI-GREEN (in the sense described above). Below I offer a graphic for any people interested to use on their Web pages to signify that they, too, are “mad as hell” and “not gonna take it anymore!” (with a tip o’ the hat to Network).

If you do not buy into “Green” claptrap and will not idly let them steal our lives and our human values, then, please, go ANTI-GREEN.
