UNEARNED ACCOLADES

When I was in junior high school (...before the P.C. of “middle” school and “community” colleges that used to be junior...), the school had an assembly in which a visiting speaker talked about memory improvement. I don’t remember (...er...) what specific techniques he discussed or what he asked us to remember. I do recall a list of four or five items and the instruction not to write anything down.

A young woman (the cuter of two female fraternal twins) sitting next to me busily scribbled down the list we had just been asked to memorize. To my considerable amazement (but no real surprise...), when the speaker asked if anyone would like to ascend to the stage and recite the list, this girl quickly raised her hand. Trotting to the front of the large auditorium, she proceeded to recite the list we had been given.

Well, the speaker grinned in delight. Applause from him and the assembled multitudes. The “successful” student demurely smiled at the recognition of her wonderful feat of skill.

Whenever I hear some #$%&^!@ politician –– especially ones running for president –– “modestly” tell us all how much he has “accomplished,” I’m reminded of this cheating student. No politician has ever “accomplished” anything productive...unless getting together with a few hundred other lying scumbags to rob untold trillions of dollars from fellow citizens counts as an “accomplishment.” No senator or congresscritter or governor ever “built” a road or “improved” education or “gave” health insurance to Americans.

These thugs in suits can’t even fulfill their most basic of obligations: to defend the rights of all people in this nation. They are the biggest violators of our rights, the ones who place us in the most danger, the most egregious robbers the world has ever witnessed.

Yet there they stand before those ubiquitous cameras proclaiming their “virtues,” bowing to unearned accolades, smiling in the pomposity of their sick and twisted souls.

F*ck ’em. And the voters they rode in on.
